The Close ABI Specialist Care is a brand new, purpose built facility that can deal with all complex need requirements, including reduced levels of consciousness, tracheotomy care, airway management and where artificial feeding is a necessity. Our facility is small at only 8 beds, and this enables us to offer a highly person-centred approach to care planning helping every resident maintain their physical goals and giving them opportunities to lead richer lives. The Close ABI Specialist Care offers spacious day areas where residents and families can congregate and socialise. We have a physio/gym space for therapy and recreation, a domestic kitchen area, a quiet contemplative area and a spa bath suite. We have 4 acres of landscaped gardens, leading down to the River Thames, allowing plenty of opportunity for fresh air and recreational space. Our facility has been specifically designed to ensure that the rooms are of adequate size to take the specialised beds and equipment, including ventilators. All bedrooms and shared spaces have overhead hoists. Each bedroom has an ensuite bathroom capable of accommodating a full sized shower trolley. We have a programme of ongoing rehabilitation provided by a range of clinical professionals to make sure that the resident’s needs are explored, addressed, monitored and reviewed. We believe that the people in our care need a wide range of stimulating activities and recreational opportunities to enrich their lives. This includes conventional and complementary therapies. Where possible we deliver activities in the community, but where this is not realistic community activities are brought into the home. Families are an important component in the lives of our residents and consideration is given to providing a space where they can share in the lives of their loved ones in a homely environment whilst ensuring that the clinical needs of our residents are not compromised. We believe our service will increase the opportunities for further rehabilitative change and be delivered in facilities designed to enhance the domestic environment whilst still being able to provide specialised clinical care to our residents. |
